We only have SEVEN MORE DAYS! I hope everyone has been consistent with the weekly adjustments/lifestyles changes (drink at LEAST 64 oz of water daily, no food after 7:00 p.m., get good, restful sleep, avoid refined foods, sugar, bread, pastas, crackers, etc., modified fasting twice weekly, high protein intake, carb intake low until after workout and/or 12 noon, and then the 12 hour eating window). If you have fallen off of any of these changes, get back on it asap.
TWO CHANGES/CHALLENGES FOR THE FINAL WEEK:
1. Reduce your 12 hour eating window to a 10 hour eating window 3 times this week. Just try it. These eating guidelines are NOT FOREVER. They are to get you and your body and your craving back in check. You’re still going to have fun. No worries! This is just training. Be patient and persistent!
2. THROW THAT SH*T IN THE TRASH CHALLENGE
The MAIN CHALLENGE this week is for you to at least once this week (you may want to try it multiple times) go purchase one of your favorite/worst weaknesses (donuts, cookies, cake, chocolate, pizza). Then I want you to open the package or box, take a bite (totally optional) and then THROW THAT SHIT IN THE TRASH. I did this very thing a few weeks ago. I had bought a carrot cake at Harris Teeter…it was on ridiculous sale. I bought it thinking my boys will devour it. Nope! It was getting eaten by YOURS TRULY. So realizing I was giving in to temptation a bit too much, I took the bull by the horns and threw that SHIT IN THE TRASH! Yes, I did. Remember, food is here to serve you and fuel your body. If it’s making you its slave, you need to get rid of it. A cookie never made you do anything and neither did the Devil. You are in charge of you at the end of the day.
Anyway, this is a very powerful object lesson and way of physically demonstrating who is in control of what. In fact most, if not all, the foods we find so irresistible are made out of the cheapest, most unhealthy and most readily available ingredients (sugar, fake flavor, lard, MSG, cheap flour and faux cheese). Trust me, you really don’t want to know how icing is made in bulk.
You really are in complete control and you can say no. This is a great way of making a bold statement to yourself and your appetite. I promise you when you do this (and don’t save it for later or for your husband or your kids either), it will change how you view food temptations. Remember food is a means of fuel and survival and not what brings us ultimate happiness or fulfillment. (for the record neither does alcohol, sex, shopping or gambling…a bad habit is a bad habit no matter what). We should absolutely enjoy food, but when it becomes our boss and not our employee, then we need to reassess.
BONUS: I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for you guys to video your experience. Anyone who does so and posts it on Facebook I will give you a free t-shirt! Do it with a Challenge workout buddy! If nothing else, you will have fun doing it! In fact, go LIVE on Facebook with it. Hey, we might start the next viral challenge. Who knows! Let’s do this!
PS: Last modified fast will be Thursday. Measurements will be taken after the final day (challenge ends this Saturday, September 16th – BUT THE NEXT ONE STARTS SEPTEMBER 25 – WOOHOO!!!). Next weekend I will post available times for measurements as well. Stay strong!
LASTLY, I want you to read the following excerpt about habits.
