Diet Tip 6
Today’s diet tip is going to address the VERY IMPORTANT key hormone to weight loss (as well as anti-aging) and that hormone is HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE, better known as HGH. HGH is the KEY hormone that promotes fat loss as well as host of other desirable bodily functions. BUT it is ONLY activated under certain conditions: Before I address what promotes HGH, let me mention what inhibits it: Moderate to high insulin. When is insulin produced? When you consume carbohydrates, especially sugar and simple sugars/starches.
So what promotes HGH production and release:
(1) Exercise, specifically high intensity interval exercise (this includes moderate weight lifting)
(2) Sleep, specifically Stage 3, the deep delta wave sleep; and
(3) Intermittent fasting or going without food for several hours at a time.
So what does that mean for you? You need to be engaging in metabolic conditioning workouts 4-5 times a week; you need to get good, restorative sleep; and you need to seriously consider making intermittent fasting a regular part of your weekly routine.
