Diet Tip 4
Optimizing hormones so food gets metabolized and used (instead of stored) is key to losing weight. So the first hormone we want to address is INSULIN. When you hear the word insulin, you should automatically think fat storage hormone because that’s basically the end result. Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas when you ingest carbs, ESPECIALLY simple carbs. It tells the body to store any excess as, you guessed it….FAT. So unless you’re already in a carb depleted state (there’s more to it than going without bread for a day), that stuff is going to straight to your belly, hips and/or thighs. So what’s the answer? Stop overdoing it on carbs. You should be consuming about 33% of your calories from carbs basically, and a good bit of those are hopefully coming from colorful vegetables. One other benefit of getting your carb intake under control is you won’t have these rollercoaster cravings and your energy will improve.
Okay. That’s it for today. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s tip!
